Just tested it, and sure enough, this new dev channel update is causing my browser to crash immediately. Installed Stable build for Windows, as well as the Beta build, both worked just fine. Ridiculous. I don't know if it's my *one* third-party extension (YouTube Options) causing the problems, but this is giving me a headache.
Checked just now, and with YTO disabled or not, still have the same problem with crashing.
I'm having the same problem, new dev channel update crashes my browser both in Mac OS X 10.9 and Ubuntu 13.10, I don't have the extension YouTube Options but became a problem for my developers.
same for me muffinut. I do have other extensions, but if that is the only extension you have, then extensions are probably not the cause since I dont have that one.
I'm having the same issue with the latest Dev build crashing upon launch. I've gone about uninstalling and reinstalling the development branch and having it work from a clean install. Using the command line flash to disable plugins (--disable-extensions and --safe-plugins) the browser still crashes.
in fact, I disabled all extensions during the brief period from start up to crash, and on relaunch, confirmed all disabled still, and it is still crashing after a few seconds from launch.
It turns out that once i disabled sync, everything works fine......hoping itll work for some of you
Having the same crashing issue as you folks. Just updated to 35.0.1916.14 dev-m. Was going to reinstall everything, but by the sound of things, that doesn't do any good.Between this and Google discontinuing Gmail SMS messaging unannounced, they sure are having a shitty week.
Chris Longo's suggestion of disabling sync worked for me, as it turns out. It took a few tries to get Chrome to stay open long enough for me to get into the settings and disconnect from sync, but I was able to restore all my tabs and not disable any extensions, and it's been running fine for several minutes.So glad I didn't have to reinstall anything.

Yes, confirmed, disconnecting google account stops the crashing.The problem is that minutes before it updated to the latest version I was fiddling with some experimental flags, so after resetting defaults had no effect, I uninstalled and removed all traces and reinstalled to no avail, before I found this temporary fix. Is there a way to specifically 35.0.1916.6 (or earlier) so I can sync my stuff back then disable sync again?I have to to use the dev build because of the recent changes to beta and stable channels of disallowing 'non web store' extensions :(
@Richard which OS are you on because there are different processes for either windows or linux or mac.
Can't open any site, immediate crash. Disabling sync isn't an option, that's a fundamental part of using Chrome.How'd this get past Canary?
@Larry, no idea but thats why its a temp work around. hopefully we will get a fix soon.If you absolutely need sync, id recommend going down a couple versions

Just ran into this thread searching for a reason Chrome just started crashing on OS X. Disconnecting my google account did the trick as well. Hope a fix comes out soon. I live in my browser and depend on google services for daily work and play alike.
Same problem here in both the most recent Canary build and the Dev channel build on OS X. I've got the same behavior on my Cr-48 Chromebook (also on the Dev channel). On my Mac, I dropped back to the Beta channel and clobbered all of my preferences in order to have a working browser...

Start chrome with "--disable-sync" and you're good to go with this version. Just remove this once an updated version arrived.
Yup having the same problem (35.0.1916.14) thought it was just me, I'm forced to use FireFox to even get on the internet. Hope it gets fixed soon, till then FireFox it is.

Disabling Sync worked for me. Close all internet interface and connections to have time to disable sync before browser crash
Start Chrome then, In the few seconds before the crash, go to settings and sign out of Chrome,this makes Chrome usable again until a fix becomes available.
I have the same problem on Mac OSX 10.9.2. It crashes within about 3 seconds of opening, even if I've done nothing but open it.
There appear to be several bugs logged related to the crashing described here. See bug IDs 359904, 359863, 359830.
Just restarted with sync still off. Turned it back on and seems to be stable now. Looking at my version Im on Version 35.0.1916.14 dev
An update is out that seems to have fixed the issue.
