Not cool Google. I was among ones whose STABLE 31 was updated to BETA 32. No, happy that there is a STABLE 32 ready I've updated to it, and guess what... Arrows on the scroll bars are still missing... Do we really have to uninstall Chrome, because you guys messed up and updated our stable 32 to beta 32 (which broke the arrows), and even now, after updating to the stable 32 arrows are still missing? You are growing really arrogant Google... Wersja 32.0.1700.76 m Windows 8.1, stable channel, the same installation that was upgraded to the beta 32... I hope that the person which released previously beta as stable was reprimended.

Will the extension policy as introduced in here http://blog.chromium.org/2013/11/protecting-windows-users-from-malicious.html introduced with Chrome 33 then?

I am not seeing a 'Relaunch Chrome...' option under the menu. I am currently using a Surface running 8.1. I would like to run Chrome in "Metro" mode.

Paul said...

@W2I6H7: I ran into this on my Surface as well. It's the HiDPI issue mentioned above. You need to turn your font size down from 125% or 150% to 100%. It should appear then.

+1 to Unknown at 11:57 AM (first comment): my stable 31 was also updated to the sans-scrollbar-arrow-heads beta 32.*.*.72.

Still no scrollbar arrow heads in current stable.

Windows 7 home premium on ThinkPad T410.

W2I6H7 said...

@Paul: Thanks for the tip; that did the trick.

David Rees said...

Anyone else notice that the font used in the tabs is wider than it used to be on Linux?

Spacing seems to be off/inconsistent, too.

Philthy82 said...

@Paul: Having the same issue as W216H7 and setting font size back to 100% has not fixed it. I was previously running the 32 beta and uninstalled Chrome, then reinstalled stable to get to this release.

Hi Chrome Team,

With new version of Chrome I have some problem with font display. Bold words are very blurred, and some text is not in bold.
Sorry for my english! :)

Well the Windows 8 mode looks like some I'd really like to use, but it lacks any kind of multi-monitor support, so it's pretty much useless for me at the moment. Also switching to W8 mode and back made me lose my 50 tabs :( It was probably time I got rid of some, but that's a horrible bug to have floating around and will prevent me from touching the W8 button for a long time...

After Chrome updated to this new version 32.0.1700.76, I cleared the temporary files using the Chromes own option and did a restart of the PC. When it restarted, I launched Chrome and got an error message about the configuration file being corrupted. My bookmarks and saved passwords were still there but I had to go through settings and reset my homepage and someother things. My extensiions however are seemingly gone. Is there a way I can get them back? I am one of the users that was unfortunate ebough to get upgraded to a beta release before this one and my OS is Windows 7 Ultimate SP1.

* Scrollbar arrows is missing. I don't like new scrollbar style.
* In almost all websites, this new Chrome's CPU usaging high. CPU fan spinning a lot until the websites is loading completed. I back to previous version (m31).

I know, Google don't care about feedback. Only example: Changing as white of Context menu in Windows. And:

I second both of these. On the second one, in some windows you are unable to click on and drag the scroll bar, but not all. Not sure what causes that exactly at this point. This Post a Comment page has the issue, so that's a good example of it.

The changes to the scroll bars are terrible.

Also I do not like the way dropdown/combo boxes work. The animation just looks ugly. For an example, go to http://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_select2 and add several more entries to the list, with enough you'll see the "drop-down" appears to materialize below the drop-down selection instead of popping out from it like it should. It's confusing and doesn't look like you're selecting an option for that drop-down.

In this version, the browser displays a crash window and the quicktime 7.7.4 plugin crashes each time it is triggered for use by an tag. In 31.0.1650.63 this did not happen.

My last comment stripped out the HTML tag. I meant to say that the quicktime 7.7.4 plugin crashes each time it is triggered for use by an embed day playing a wav or mp3 file.

I've noticed some unusual behaviour with the scroll bar in select boxes. In that you can't click and drag the anchor. (Tested on windows 7) It sppears that it doesn't respond to hovering as it only takes up the darker hover state when it's been clicked on. Navigation is still possible with the scroll wheel or keyboard though.

Updating caused me to lose all open tabs. It was in Windows 8 mode. The display was offset so that the bottom of the screen was about a third of the way up the screen with the top off screen. Clicks did not register in the correct place. After reinstalling, it only loads in the desktop with no option to switch to Windows 8 mode. I found a discussion thread where these issues were reported in November while it was in beta. The comment didn't seem to have been addressed.

Is anyone else having issues with linear gradient css in this version?

I have a linear gradient (diagonal) on a button and it used to display perfectly. Now it doesn't. It displays perfectly on every other browser (IE11, FF 26.0, Safari 5.1.7).

I checked in tools to see what CSS it's picking up and it seems to be reading the W3C gradient line. Here's my button CSS:

.gradientLaunch
{
background: #B7402B; /* Old browsers */
/* SVG as background image (IE9/Chrome/Safari/Opera) */
background: url(images/icons/Tiles/launch.png) no-repeat 24px 24px, url(data:image/svg+xml;base64,...);

background: url(images/icons/Tiles/launch.png) no-repeat 24px 24px, -moz-linear-gradient(-45deg, #b7402b 14%, #d2523c 77%); /* FF3.6+ */
background: url(images/icons/Tiles/launch.png) no-repeat 24px 24px, -webkit-gradient(linear, left top, right bottom, color-stop(14%,#b7402b), color-stop(77%,#d2523c)); /* Chrome,Safari4+ */
background: url(images/icons/Tiles/launch.png) no-repeat 24px 24px, -webkit-linear-gradient(-45deg, #b7402b 14%,#d2523c 77%); /* Chrome10+,Safari5.1+ */
background: url(images/icons/Tiles/launch.png) no-repeat 24px 24px, -o-linear-gradient(-45deg, #b7402b 14%,#d2523c 77%); /* Opera 11.10+ */
background: url(images/icons/Tiles/launch.png) no-repeat 24px 24px, -ms-linear-gradient(-45deg, #b7402b 14%,#d2523c 77%); /* IE10+ */
background: url(images/icons/Tiles/launch.png) no-repeat 24px 24px, linear-gradient(135deg, #b7402b 14%,#d2523c 77%); /* W3C */
}

Anybody?

Thanks!

Some of my gradients in my extension are also messed up, and I can no longer see console messages logged from content scripts on their pages, when it worked perfectly previously. This makes debugging content scripts impossible without sending console output to the background to be logged, which is a pain, and means that I have to change all of my code, or overwrite the console var.

We're seeing a problem with a div not being painted any more in this version of Chrome. Resizing the window, or changing the zoom level forces a page repaint and makes the div reappear.

The site i am maintaining uses the jqx javascript extension to handle drop down menus. with the latest release any hover capabilities do not work. Please fix this issue and do a better job testing your software before pushing out new releases.

I've fixed the problem with MouseImp but I noticed that everything become extremely slow with new version. Chrome was always one of the quickest browsers but not now. Maybe that is because my graphic card is too old but why do I need new card if it worked perferctly in the previous version? Now when I create new tab I wait upto 2 seconds. When I close tab or open link in a new tab I see delay. Even when I switch between tabs it is not as quickly as it was before. I would never update Chrome but it update itself automatically. I don't understand what the point of these fade animations for drop-down menus is. The short delay from the animation loading makes it slower then before the update. The fact that it can't be changed/removed even with CSS is most concerning.

Adding to clarify: I'm not against adding the fade in/out animations to the Chrome UI (extension pop-ups, etc.). I believe that is Chrome's decision. What I don't believe is that Chrome should be allowed to decide that all other web pages should function this way. Thinking otherwise is dangerous to web developers.

This release is not good at all. Lots of bugs, Adobe Flash issues, etc., I'm going back to FireFox.

It's a shame, I like Chrome's simple and clean look, but now its annoying.

The big problem of chrome team is the idea of releasing the so called (stable release) every few weeks instead of waiting until fixing most of beta bugs.

For me, I can wait six months or even more for the next stable release if they guarantee that it will be really stable!

There is an easy fix for the SELECT/dropdown scrollbar issue that works, see http://superuser.com/a/704737/30941.

Hope it helps!

There's a new CSS bug with the background position of a gradient, when used in combination with an image.

So given this:

background: url(myimage.png) no-repeat right 10px, -webkit-gradient(linear, left top, right bottom, color-stop(0%,#b7402b), color-stop(100%,#d2523c));
- the gradient also starts at 10px from top.

To fix it, also specify the background position for the gradient:
background: url(myimage.png) no-repeat right 10px, -webkit-gradient(linear, left top, right bottom, color-stop(0%,#b7402b), color-stop(100%,#d2523c)) 0 0;

This is far from stable. Unresponsive pages popping up continuously when using an application shortcut, including GMail, Trello and Slack. This used to be a very rare problem and now it occurs more or less continuously.

Rik said...

Since this update "Page(s) Unresponsive" popups constantly. And they really are unresponsive, you have to wait many seconds until they work again. Testing before releasing these horrible updates? Also losing cookies during new windows. Select box not working. Firefox as alternative?

This is the crappiest release in a while! Im having issues with flash as I still have hw decode unless I use the plugin version and now with this release it doesn't always load or just plays the audio with black/empty display! Also the scrollbar thing is just BAD

So that's why blogger never caught on - no way to recomment...

YEP - HAVING totally cross platform (Win/Mac/iOS/Android) issues with this gradient thing - as lorely says, it's when a gradient is used in conjunction with a background image.

Thank you lorely XXXXXXX
Will implement your fix ASAP, but I noticed this in Canary a couple of months ago and assumed (dangerous) it would be fixed by release to stable.
Is already fixed in 34 Canary, but I'm fed up that Chrome is exhibiting IE-itis already so soon!

Reset all form elements in CSS to the previously-derided MS "box-sizing: border-box" NOW!

+#2 for IE along with XHR...

My bold fonts are now fuzzy as expressed above. Windows 7.

My browser also keeps crashing as I'm trying to fill out this form. Scrolling in this pop up window does not work right. Have to scroll with mouse wheel, dragging does not work

Please roll back to prior version ASAP. Then fix this and release again.

Since last update window.open is not rendering even though content is loaded correctly Click on window or resize it is needed to render DOM

Honestly, this update made me switch to using Opera. Since Opera made the switch to Webkit there's hardly any difference, without all the annoying UI changes. Google is starting to override all the OS defaults for the sake of pushing their own platform. I could just switch to Chromium, but screw it, Opera looks better too.

We are having major rendering issues with embedded fonts across multiple clients sites, particularly with bolding and a "glow" around fonts, or bold no longer being bold

I'm running Windows 7 and after the new update from Chrome, I can not open new tabs or windows. I receive "Not Responding" errors and have to close Chrome entirely. Very frustrated as I often need to have more than one tab/window open. Any help would be appreciated.

I clicked on the "Post a Comment" link to report that I cannot click in the scrollbar to scroll panels and, of course, I get a popup that I have to scroll to the bottom of, but can't!!!
I had to use the CTRL-End keystroke to jump to the bottom of the dialog to be able to type into this text area

Jody Threet said...

Some dropdown/select menus no longer work either.

But here is the REAL kicker: I am getting a "Page unresponsive. Kill pages/Wait" on THIS very page now, but it used to work fine before the 32 update.

I think 32 needs some more testing...
Holy **** I used to do all my web development in Chrome, now I can't due to these MAJOR bugs, nor can I recommend Chrome to people anymore.

I can't add much more to this thread except AGREE (theres that damn "Page Unresonsive" AGAIN!!!) with everything said here. Whoever put out this ABYSMAL version 32.0.1700.76 needs to go!!!

My mouse scroll wheel isn't working in Chrome 32. Please report this issue via "About Google Chrome/Report an issue" if you have this problem too as it made Chrome nearly unusable.

Consider using 'dppx' units instead of 'dpi', as in CSS 'dpi' means dots-per-CSS-inch, not dots-per-physical-inch, so does not correspond to the actual 'dpi' of a screen. In media query expression: only screen and (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio: 2), not all, not all, not all, only screen and (min-resolution: 192dpi), only screen and (min-resolution: 2dppx)

I'm running chrome 32 on my mac. I'm getting some weirdness with fonts linked with @font-face. If go to a new tab for a while and then back to a previous tab, the fonts will have reset to a system default font like arial and then after a second flash back to the linked font. It doesn't happen unless the tab has been inactive for a while. This is new with chrome 32. Maybe a memory or caching issue. Just guessing.

I've noticed that on this version when I open a new tab I no longer have links to my google+, gmail, the rubix cube. Where these removed on purpose? They were very helpful. If they were removed on accident, can we please have them back?
