Oh, Wow! Looks like a big jump to Level 18.

So far, so good. Win Vista/32bit

Thanks Google Dev Team!

great update chrome team awaiting smooth scrolling

Seems like it's impossible to drag the Web Store app to a separate page (in order to have a "blank" NTP) anymore. Is this intentional?

Seems to have broken the extension AdBlock.

(winxp home sp3) When downloading a link via save-as, be it image, document, whatever, the save dialogue is appearing behind the active window, but you can still interact with it using the keyboard.

You can make the dialogue move on top of the active window by clicking anywhere inside it, including the chrome.

Adblock is no longer as seamless. Ah, the Adblock devs will fix it regardless. Twitter's still buggy. HTML5 is still performing terribly.

But wow, first real jump in overall speed in months. Congrats!

Just tried going on YouTube, and this update has killed flash performance. It's slow like HTML5. Flash ads as well. I had to download the FlashBlock extensions since I disabled Adblock, and all the normally non-existent flash ads are obliterating performance.

I'm using dev version of Adblock Plus.
No problem here :))

@Ashish Abraham, you can already enable smooth scrolling in chrome:flags

Det said...

Plus there's also this extension that gives you even more control: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/khpcanbeojalbkpgpmjpdkjnkfcgfkhb

It's just another couple of MB in RAM, of course.

Ashish Abraham said...

@Det, i did try it from about:flags section, however it is unstable. i will try the extension you were referring to. thank you.

What about printing background images ? issue 2294 has been open since 2008 with 330 starred followers. The function is in webkit just no switch in GUI.Please.... there is no point in using google docs until this is done.

I try to update but it says update server not available (error:7).

This version reduced the font size and/or smoothing of the badges on extension icons (e.g., the unread count on the Google Mail Checker) and they are now blurry. I hope that gets addressed in a future build.

Something up with flash performance. If I go to www.soccernet.com, it will crash the browser.

Does the google talk plugin still work for anyone? It stopped working for me, but I just noticed. So I don't know when it stopped working.

Won't allow input in gmail when using gpu accel flag

Anti-aliasing is screwed on the same page.

Adblock plus broken/update 1.2 is slower

Otherwise, it;s faster

Flash is killing the whole browser every instance it's opened.

Danial said...

This version was worst version of chrome i ever seen ...

Everytime i try to play flash , it was close the whole program ...

And i was wondering where is your promise that tell us every tab has own process from the other ...

HurpDurp said...

Any time an extension opens some sort of popup text bubble type of thing when you click on it, that won't ever go away unless you click on the icon again (most of them should go away when you click the browser or open a link in an email if it was an extension for reading emails).

Looking forward to changes in the uber-page, chrome://chrome.

I suggest including about, bookmarks, history, downloads, extensions, apps, and settings. Also, I prefer no more than one submenu per section to promote speed and intuitive navigation.

Latest rls killed the flash performance. Non of the flash blockers work on it.

Problems with links and interaction with websites such as Reddit, LMGTFY since update?

Amit Bakhru said...

- problems with flash

worst release ever from google.

hover zoom broken :(

@Amit Bakhru Remember that this is the first release of Chrome 18 Dev

Please remember that all Chrome Canary, Dev, and even Beta builds are experimental. Expect issues, especially during notable advancements (such as the recent speed boost).

Ok, nobody else is curious about the strange little cartoon character on the taskbar icon? It seems to appear when I have multiple windows open. Maybe it's a Windows-only thing.

Alex said...

Works perfectly. The cartoon thing is the user-accounts if you have more than one. I presume if you only have the default user account then that is a problem. When will this be updated for Chromebooks?

This build fixed the .crdownload for .exe naming bug for me, thanks!

On Windows XP, all extensions with bubble type of popups do *not* close when the user click elsewhere in the window.
Have to either click on another extension (if there is another) or close Chrome.

Kenny Strawn said...

Now the only question: When will this update reach Chromebooks (especially the Acer AC700)? I am having problems with WEP wireless security...
