@Mamdouh & @P-A - Follow the six week release schedule set by Google, as such, Chrome V 13 Stable should be released six weeks after V 12 Stable's debut.

Eee, I don't like that cup cake on the top left. =X Anyway to disable that? My "chrome://flags/" don't seem to work anymore.

JG said...

I clicked and changed the cupcake to the flask because it is the coolest ^_^

Moe said...

Oh my God I hate that damn cupcake. Please let us disable that—or at least let us have a reasonable icon, like the Chrome icon. One that doesn't look like utter... well, crap.

So now all my bookmarks are missing... I did not want this update. How do I get my bookmarks back? I need to get them back.

With toolbar hidden, when I open a new tab, I have to click in it to write the url. It was not like this 3 versions before. So hidden toolbar is still useless...

We need google chrome 13 stable now!!. I really want to try the google instant pages. It just seems not to be in the beta channel or dev. I heard a few people were lucky to try it out. I expect this feature to work in google chrome 13 stable.

Who the hell thought that this cupcake thing is a good idea!? Here I thought that Google had finally learned how to design well with Google+ and then they come up with this utter disaster.

and tell me How can I disable multiple profiles?

Strayer said...

Accidentally clicked on delete profile - now I'm sooo glad that I have Xmarks! ;)

But..well...yeah... I hope this is just an oversight. This thing should not be active by default.

Kaos said...

Please add an option to disable those profile icons. One reason why I chose Chrome as my default browser was it's great design, so please help me get rid of that ugly icon

Kurtextrem said...

Guys, you can change the Icon. So chill

shawn mitchell said...

Wow, I deleted the profile to get rid of the ridiculous cupcake sitting on my browser window and what do you know, all my bookmarks are GONE! Thanks Google. Awesome. Just awesome.

That's it, those stupid icons along with the impending removal of Compact Navigation were the final straws! Good bye!

joesixgig said...

The default profile icon definitely does not look professional. How about not showing the profile pic if only a single profile is present? How about allowing custom pics so we can add something a little less childish looking?

Marc K said...

To second what everyone above has said... the profile icons are a disaster. Possibly the tackiest looking thing I've ever seen in an application, and that's saying something. Also, it's not really clear what they do anyway.

DoomedPanda said...

Can't type in a google chat box on either iGoogle or Google+

joesixgig said...

For those with concerns about the cupcake icon, read this:
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=88878

Apparently the icons are placehodlers, and for people with a single profile it will not be shown by default once all is fully implemented. In other words: sit tight - this will get better.

Andrew said...

O crap! I wish I would have read this before I tried to delete the cupcake. Poof goes 5 years of bookmarks with no backup. FML

Jan said...

What did you guys expect would happen if you delete your profile? Amateurs.

ChromeFan said...

bookmark gone....i was expecting some confirmation when deleting profile....but damn.......

Andrew said...

I thought I accidentally downloaded a weird extension. It didn't look like something directly from google. Look at the post for this release. No mention of changes to profiles or anything. And it doesn't show on my mac version. I know Im on the dev channel but gosh this was BAD.

Marc M said...

-Thumbs up to Jan-
Yeah, I know what DID you guys expect to happen after you click delete?
Oh, and I am loving this cupcake thing! I say keep it, it's sooo adorable! :D

Still noticing that the Sync Error has not been corrected.

Wonder why this issue is taking so long to resolve?

it can't be hard implementing compact navigation on the mac version of chrome. WHY WHY WHY?

joesixgig said...

CompactNav is on it's way out, see
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=89162

They consider it a failed experiment.

Alvaro Schneider said...

Awful try. There's a myriad of things that chrome should be doing by default, like right click in a tab -> disable cache for this site... useful stuff, and you implement the most pointless, useless, ugliest function ever, may be with an extension, but this ?

I'm glad Firefox is getting speedy. Open your ears guys.

suavi said...

Guys who lost bookmarks , have you tried "Set Up Chrome Sync"? (click on the wrench) You can see it.

This release seems to crash when running the Peacekeeper Browser Benchmark when it attempts to run the Canvas tests. The HTML5 Fish-tank tests also seem to be rendering incorrectly with no fish showing or the animations breaking when the water effect is removed.

Both of these tests were working correctly on earlier Chrome Dev releases (Last tested approximately one month ago). The ACID 3 test also now only seems to score 98/100 which I am sure also use to score 100 however I have not run this recently to know if this lower score is recent or not.

Aaron said...

Wow, the artwork on multiple profiles is awful. Why does it even show up if I'm not using the feature?

(I assume/hope this is a temporary oversight for the Dev channel, and not a sign that Chrome has finally fallen victim to the inevitable browser UI/feature bloat that afflicts all browers when developers run out of UI-free features to implement.)

Seyss said...

jesus, remove this crap now

who told you we want a stupid cake on our browser view ALL THE TIME?

who the hell in Google Chrome's dev team approved this shit? Take him down now.

HurpDurp said...

Chrome is crashing like every 3 minutes.

Jan said...

@Seyss
If you are incapable of reading up on current development you shouldn't use the dev version. It's a placeholder.

Avinash Agrawal said...

Clicking on "Back button" on lots of sites, causes that tab to get stuck and the page keeps reloading.

This version crashes tabs, seriously, like every 15 minutes. Gmail tab crashes...then you reload that. A few minutes later its Google +, then you reload that, then another few minutes another tab crashes...well, You all get the picture. Can NOT use until they fix it.

I find it amusing to see people so upset with DEVELOPER builds. They are not finished, they are meant to find bugs and squash them.

Handycam said...

@dan Agreed. If you don't want things to be messed, up, there's a beta and a stable build. Switch and get off Dev and leave it to those of us who want to report meaningful bugs.

Handycam said...

I am getting a lot of "aw, snap" pages on facebook with this build.

Juan Sebastian said...

I am also getting the facebook crashes, If someone knows the number of this issue please send the link. Google, I think the multiple profile thing should be able to be turned off. And the icons to be more stylish, and professional like some kind of chrome logo in half that rotates and you´d know what profile you are using by the colour that is showing on top: either red, green, or yellow and since you customize them You know what is what... you get the idea(I hope), also the browser itself is crashing more often, link to this issue would also be appreciated. Also would be good to show some kind of tutorial page or text in a tab immediately after updating automaticly to know what is new.

Chrome Canary crashing when opening the browser!

Ghardas said...

Please remove the crappy profile icons... or let us disable this shit.

@Seyss: "who the hell in Google Chrome's dev team approved this shit?" -> possibly a 3 years old developer.

Josh Burson said...

You can disable "Multiple Profiles" in the about:flags page until they are finished.

Ghardas said...

@Josh Burson -> no you can't! at least on Win7 version.

Josep Bel said...

Chrome needs a great tool to switch channels safety (stable, beta, dev).
Downgrade dev to stable is necessary.
Sorry for my poor english.

Two Major Problems:

Print Preview fails on some pages, what happens is the words print page was closed, there is a bar to re-open it, that also fails, I had to revert to IE9 to print something today. (that's sad to say the least!)

Second problem, clicking on the Back Arrow HANGS and does not work.

Of course I understand the Cupcake is a place holder for something in the future, couldn't you put a Chrome JPG there, a CUPCAKE, give me a break!

Two things:

1. Why not use the labs feature in chrome to test the multiple profiles feature? I remember that in previous releases it does appear in the about:flags page. I disable it intentionally. But now I cannot.

2. I want to switch back to beta channel. But when I first launched the beta channel chrome, it told me that my user profile was "so advanced" that it did not support. It suggested me switching back to later versions. What should I do? My dev version of chrome are experiencing severe memory leaks and crashes, even if I disabled all extensions and plugins.

Back button is broken, no pages on Twitter load. Nice.

Maurizio said...

Two bugs to report.
As someone else said, it is impossible to add/manage custom search engines.

Other bug on MacOS X Lion.. slightly weirdier...
Set Lion's Finder in "Column View" (it is the only way to reproduce the issue). Go on YouTube and try to upload a video. The video, in my case, was on the Desktop. Click on the video in the Finder window for selecting the file to upload and, as soon as it tries to load a preview of the file (because that's what happens with "Column view" on Finder) it fails and crashes Chrome.
Chrome does not crash with other Finder view settings (list, coverflow, icons) but just with the column view.

I don't get what the point of the cupcake/flask/etc is. Is there a point? The icons sure are ugly... but is there a reason for that icon?
