Yeah! Version 12! Win Vista/32bit

I have been trying to find a way to do this for a while, and hopefully someone here knows how:

I want to have chromium revisions show up in my Google Reader as an rss feed. I can get updates to all issues, but I just want revisions. I have tried various filtering tools, but nothing works that well. Can I get an rss from the svn log?

The icon got reverted back in the About Google Chrome page!

Tab Multi-Select doesn't seem to work for me with Debian Sid Linux. Holding down ctrl (or shift) and selecting tabs just switches to the tab.

@Chris, you can follow the Chromium SVN checkins from:

Get the feeds by clicking the "XML" button at the page bottom.

when i click on about after the upgrade it still shows the old version # and has the relaunch icon. I click relaunch and check version # again and still the same old version #

Brad said...

Same here, back to the Chrome 11 logo, did they scrap the new one?

Chris said...

@krtulmay
Thanks! That worked great. I wish Google Reader had the ability to filter feeds so I could know which issues the revisions were affecting.

2. and then make it auto-hideable.
3. Move toolbars menu to left life firefox i sometime accidentally hit X when grabbing toolbar.
4. Reclaim the tiny space below address bar and b/w pages. it's very tiny like millimeters.

Would crash very often on Mac.
Surf for a few minutes and browser will hang, become unusable and cpu will spike.

Looking forward to another update soon.

For those looking for the Confirm to Quit option, go to Chrome on the menubar and the option should be just about Quit Chrome.

Multi-Tab select does not work on the Mac

Vonster said...

First off I want to say the browser is awesome, but one new 'experiment' isn't.

Resetting to the default theme and then enabling the "Experimental new tab page" creates a home page with ridiculously large, unmovable, unlabeled app icons with not a single webpage address anywhere to be found.

The three paging buttons at the bottom are a nice idea, but nothing happens with the "recently closed" or the all lowercase "example at gmail.com" areas. (is this supposed to be an email address without an @ symbol? Or is it stating there is some sort of example at Gmail.com? Either way it's added confusion and currently does nothing.)

Worst of all, someone had the brainstorm to anchor a huge Chrome logo persistently at the bottom left of the home screen. Is that what you want to say about your users? That they must be too stupid to remember which browser they are using so you must remind them all the time? Are the "channel identification tags" in the lower corner of a television screen something that delights or annoys?

If you continue to develop a start page similar to this, I guarantee you the first new plugin will be to somehow disable the forced advertising logo, the simplest being to use another browser. Seriously, not even MSFT does it.

Old Logo!!
why is that?
The new one is way more elegant.
p.s the multi-selecting is awesome

Johnny said...

@Vonster, The new tab page experiment is a work in progress. If you don't like it, don't use it. Wait until a more prepared version comes out before you criticize it. It's a developer version for a reason. New ideas get DEVELOPED.

Christopher said...

Does Chrome work properly with high DPI set by the os in Windows Vista 64bit yet ?

Pierre said...

Hi,

The multi tab selection doesn't work on Windows XP SP3.

Happy the old logo is back :P

David Knowles said...

Well on my machines this appears to be a lot more stable, smoother and faster than the previous version, a lot less random freezes.

The new Tab page is cool and I can see what they are trying to do, but it obviously a working a progress. But old one seem to have out grown it usefulness and was looking a bit slap to together.

As from the multi tab selection I honestly do not see myself using very often, unless you will be able to save such a selection somewhere on the new tab page.

Gmail mail/chat notifications are broken.

Jonas N said...

Odd... I have 12.0.713.0 canary build and can't multi-select tabs like you're supposed to be able with this (slightly older) build on dev channel.

I'm on Windows...

Jonas N said...

Ooh, I see it now... It works, but the selection state is barely visible here, at least on my skin and running incognito, if any of that matters.

jordanmooreblog said...

*bangs head off desk* so now the public cry for new logo?

Jesus, there's no pleasing some people. Keep the logo as it is now (old version), the other looked like sick.

Vonster said...

@Johnny - Whether or not I like the new tab experimental page is irrelevant. What is relevant is the fact that it is completely non-functional. Maybe Google should be the one to wait until a more prepared version comes out before they offer it as a user option. That's why I left user feedback, which is what this website is all about.

Not all new ideas get developed and not all experiments are successful.

You'll figure it out eventually.

Annoying reccurent problem since first release of Chrome mac: crappy scrolling !! :-(

I want the new logo back to this version please!

matrixagent said...

Pretty much unusable on my OS X machine. New tabs won't react and just stay blank, current tabs can't refresh. Can't quit Chrome either, have to force quit it. And the new logo was awesome, bring it back.

Martim said...

I want the new icon back! It is so much more elegant...

Multiple-tab selection doesn't work on a Mac because ctrl-click is already system assigned to bring up the context menu. I suggest changing it to shift-click. Works better and is also much more intuitive.

This update also has some glitches, at least the Mac version does. In just an hour, the browser froze twice: clicking on links, scrolling and basically any functionality stopped working. I could switch between tabs, but nothing else. Had to force quit Chrome.

I also think the Cmd+Q settings changed. I liked it better the way it was before.

Ben said...

Where can I go to find some more information about what "Chrome Frame" is? Is that my Chrome OS?

I realize there is a Chrome OS Label for these blog posts but it is rarely used and doesn't appear to be used for dev channel updates so I'm hoping this means these Dev updates labels are what is applied to the dev channel for Chrome OS users.

Thanks.

a) bring old logo back
b) better UI for selected tabs. All that you do is make it ligher and I can barely tell.

Andrea said...

Why the old logo? :-(((

Graeme said...

@Vonster: The Dev channel (and *especially* about:flags) is meant to be a test ground for new ideas that are still in their infancy. If Google wanted to wait until ideas were fully developed before releasing them, there would be no point in having a Dev channel. The experimental NTP isn't even close to done, so it isn't worth griping about it. Just wait it out and see how it develops. If you don't like half-baked implementations, move to the Stable channel or stop using about:flags.

Add a STAR to http://crbug.com/30572 to get further updates on the Mac and Linux progress.

Also, the old logo is a bug. Add a STAR to http://crbug.com/77354 to see when they fix it.

In order to make this latest build working on Mac again - in case you have such issues - goto about:flags and disable "Enable better omnibox history matching".

That did it for me.

bring back the new logo! the new multiple tab select feature is a nice touch, but it doesn't really improve browsing.. the real deal would be adding the "select by domain" feature we saw on chromestory.com. and for god's sake, when I search for a specific term in the history, I want to be able to delete pages from that spot right there, not go back into the full history, and look for the entry I want to delete with hours

Why you devs not make available both new and old logo so we can choose???

I really really liked the previous logo... :(

jzero15 said...

I really like the suggestions mentioned but these are my favorite:

1) Let us choose the logo we want
2) The new experimental tab page needs a lot of work.
3) Have a better animation to make it easier to see if you have chosen multiple tabs

I'm guessing that no self-respecting Chrome engineer is wasting time in these blog comment threads, with such insipid logo-related assertions. There's a reason Chromium has bug reports, folks - and if you don't the new logo, fork the project. #futility

Thank you, however, to "George" - who suggested that toggling the "Enable better omnibox history matching" flag (off) would fix the random issues with the latest dev build. So far, so good.

To the rest of you whiners: grow up and submit a workable bug report to the devs. ;)

Despite the amazing work Chrome Developers has been doing with all these releases, I think they need to put a little more time working with the Mac version of Chrome. Vonster said...

@Graeme - Thanx for your revelation to not use the experimental features if I don't like them. I'm fairly certain the point of the development channel is to test out items that are under development.

Useless additions that offer zero functionality are not testable and undeveloped. As such, Google receives no developmental input from usage and only serves to create negative confusion from those who may have activated the function and then incorrectly complain the browser itself is poor.

My 'griping' is in reality the only constructive criticism about the experimental new tab function to date. I guess you feel if I provided the hundredth opinion on the new logo or corrected a minor spelling mistake Google would have somehow benefited more. You would be wrong.

Experimental features are wonderful and a great way to try out potentially new functionality. Completely unusable features offer no function, no features, no benefits and no experimentation. Providing any level of end user with a non-functional option is irrelevant and pointless with zero benefits to either party.

When downloading something, there becomes a "stripe" at the bottom of the window that is incorrectly rendered. The scroll bar is confused too, like this strip is another window, sort of like a frame might be. Only cure is to close that window and open another.

Sometimes, content from a different tab or other page in history is rendered in the stripe.
