Chrome Beta Release

The Chrome team is happy to announce the arrival of Chrome 10.0.648.82 to the Beta channel for Windows, Mac, and Linux.  Chrome 10 contains some really great improvements including:
  • New version of V8 - Crankshaft - which greatly improves javascript performance
  • New settings pages that open in a tab, rather than a dialog box
  • Improved security with malware reporting and disabling outdated plugins by default
  • Password sync as part of Chrome Sync now enabled by default
  • GPU Accelerated Video
  • Background WebApps
  • webNavigation extension API
More on what's new at the Official Chrome Blog.  You can find full details about the changes that are in Chrome 10 in the SVN revision log. If you find new issues, please let us know by filing a bug. Want to change to another Chrome release channel? Find out how.

Nice! Tabbed Setting is the default now. I've been using it since it first appeared as a flag in the beta channel.

I'm now going to see what the new flags do, specially that one with Instant.

Am I the only one who hates the tab-based options dialogs?

How come I can't customize zoom size on Chrome, for example 105% instead of 100%?

Could you please bring back the "click to play" option for plug-ins? Thanks!

Chris said...

@KG: try putting plug-ins in to "block" mode. Then use the right-click mouse menu in the plug-in placeholder. There should be a "run" option. It's like click-to-play but more secure as it is less prone to clickjacking.

@Chris: Thanks for the fast response!

Can you help me to find out which is the stable version of chrome?
the beta is 10.0.648.82 or not? :D

I ask this strange question cause I've downloaded the non-beta and was updating the beta verion of chrome at the same time and the downloaded one sai taht is an error and the other did not update untill I closed the Chrome installer and when I clicked on "About Google Chrome" it asked me for restart

and now it is 10.0.648.82 BUT with no "beta" label below the "10.0.648.82" ! :D
Am I with beta or not? :D
LOL !

@Freeman: to downgrade channel you have to uninstall and re-install. Or wait that channel to hit your current version.
btw current stable is 9.0.597.98 for win and linux and 9.0.597.102 for mac

You forgot to mention that you can now click and drag the Apps Icons on the NTP to rearrange them.

We get so accustomed using these features on the Canary and trunk builds that we forget what's changed when we make these Stable channel announcements.

Will the blank page problem ever be fixed?

the last couple of days chrome beta 10 has been opening very, very slowly. I've been using force quit, it takes so long to load up.

Anyone having Flash issues? After having the browser open for a little while, every new Flash object I load is blank and actually shows my desktop. No errors or anything, it's only fixed by restarting Chrome. Any ideas?
