Mac/Linux Beta Update: Fix package dependencies


The Google Chrome Beta channel for Mac and Linux has been updated to 5.0.307.11 to fix a few more issues:
  • [Linux] Fixed the dependency problem that caused extra packages to get pulled in for installing Google Chrome. (Issue 35639)
  • [Mac, Linux] Fixed an issue where an error resolving a proxy server would not try a direct connection. (Issue 32316)
  • [Mac, Linux] Fixed an extensions bug that could crash the entire browser. (Issue 34778)
  • [Mac, Linux] Fixed an issue in the cross-site scripting auditor that could prevent Google translate from working on sites. (Issue 33115)

Dev Channel Update

The Dev channel has been updated to 5.0.336.0 for Google Chrome Frame
  • [r38145] Add support for the IE File->Save As command. (Issue: 24039)
  • [r38962] Fixed an IE7 crash caused when ChromeFrame would pass keystrokes to be processed as accelerators. (Issue: 35355)
  • [r39208] Add support for accelerators like BackSpace, Shift+Backspace to navigate back or forward. (Issue: 35629)

Dev Channel Update

Update: Windows has been updated to 5.0.335.1 to resolve the crash related to dragging.

  • Mac client SSL certificate support limitations: does not yet support server renegotiation attempts (so it doesn't work with all sites) (Issue 36207); client cert generation (the <keygen> tag) is not implemented yet (Issue 34607)
  • Mac: Blocked popups can currently not be opened (Issue 35594)

Beta Update, Mac and Linux: Fix Crashes

The Google Chrome Beta channel for Mac and Linux has been updated to 5.0.307.9. This release fixes a few issues to make the browser a bit more reliable:

  • [Mac, Linux] Fixed a tab crash that could be triggered by visiting wordpress.com, http://acid3.acidtests.org/, and many other sites. (Issue 35498)
  • [Mac, Linux] Fixed a tab crash in image loading. (Issue 32230
  • [Linux] Improved font bolding for fonts without native bold. (Issue 22360)

Dev Channel Update

The dev channel has been updated to 5.0.322.2 for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms

  • [r38242] Don't crash when a theme specifies a nonexistent image. (Issue: 31719)

Mac
  • [r38319] Honor modifiers for clicks on home button – cmd-clicking the home button now opens your home page in a new tab. (Issue: 34900)
  • [r38204] Implemented writing direction context menu in text input fields.
  • [r38504] Add local storage nodes to the cookie manager (Issue: 33068)

Linux
  • [r38320] Use of Freetype's emboldening for fonts that don't provide bold. Fixes the sometimes blurry bold fonts. (Issue: 22360)
  • [r38372] Can now drag and drop bookmarks from Firefox. (Issue: 34141)
  • [r38246] Implement content blocking address bar icons and bubbles (Issue: 33314)

Native Client
  • Chrome for Linux and Mac OS 10.6 can now run Native Client modules directly, no plugin required. To enable this features, run Chrome with the following command line flags --internal-nacl --enable-gpu-plugin --no-sandbox.

    WARNING: This should only be used to experiment with Native Client, disabling the sandbox for normal web browsing is dangerous and is not recommended.

  • Platform-independent NPAPI extensions for 2D, 3D, and mouse/keyboard events are now available.

  • Linux: Crash when editing a bookmark in the bookmark manager (Issue: 35438)
  • All: Chrome doesn't show popup blocker bubble (Issue: 35594)
  • Mac/Linux: Can't save cookie settings (Issue: 35307)

Beta Update: Mac and Linux

The Google Chrome Beta channel for Mac and Linux has been updated to 5.0.307.7. You can read about it on the Google Chrome Blog.

We've been adding many of the features that were missing on the Mac, and working hard on making Google Chrome on both platforms more reliable. We've spent a lot of time making plug-ins (like Adobe Flash Player) more reliable.

What's new on Mac since the last Beta update?

The stable channel has been updated to 4.0.249.89 for Windows.

Google Chrome Frame Update

The Dev channel has been updated to 5.0.317.0 for Google Chrome Frame.

This release includes resolutions for the following issues:

Dev Channel Update

The Dev channel has been updated to 5.0.317.2 for Windows


All
  • [r37939] (Windows/Linux) Do not select a word by right-click on an editable field in a web page (Issue: 8841)
  • [r37411] (Extensions) Adds a new experimental processes module to the extensions API. (Issue: 32303)

Windows
  • Integrated page level language translation.
  • Added new privacy management tools, under "Options->Under the Hood->Content settings..." which all for better management of images, JavaScript, plugins, and popups.

Known Issues
  • Automatic translation does not work for Chinese language sites (Issue: 43803)
  • Uninstall problem on Google Chrome and Chromium (Issue: 34652)
  • Crashes following the installing of a current Beta/Stable release after an uninstall (Issues 34794, 34688).
  • Multiple exceptions can occur, related to the Content Settings UI. (Issue: 34692)
  • When "Ask me ..." is set, cookies are still set without asking. (Issue: 34693)
  • Pop-up settings changed in bubble are not saved. (Issue: 34781)

Dev Channel Update

Google Chrome 5.0.307.5 has been released to the Developer channel for Mac and Linux. We've fixed some bugs present in 5.0.307.1 in an effort to stabilize 307 for a Beta channel update.

If your favorite theme didn't look right after the last update: we fixed that in this update (Issue 33416).
