Closing pinned tabs now closes the tab. I don't like this new behavior, I liked it when the page was closed but the tab was still open. It helped me free memory by reloading tabs - not the page itself, reloading the page does not free memory.

Ventura, see here: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=43509

For some reason, the devs thought phantom/app tabs weren't important enough, or something . . .

I like the improved pdf rendering. I still don't think I've heard an answer on how/if it will be integrated with Google Docs, though.

Anyone know?

I also love the continuation of the orange ball update notifier - really helps cut down on my update OCD.

BRING BACK PHANTOM TABS! It's a convenient one-click button to a website you obviously go to often since you have it pinned. Why on earth was it removed? At least make it an option or something.

it doesn't pass the acid test here
it has 100/100 but the rendering is wrong
it shows a white box here, i only see the A of Acid.

What are you, nine years of age? That key is used in CMS systems like WordPress for Bold on/off when editing. Got any other great ideas..?

When I was updated Chrome to the previous dev-build, I got an nightmare issue with a translate bar — absolutely wrong language detection and strange settings

For example, I want to translate itallian page to russian and got an «Idish to Suahili» translation.

Please fix this issue!

Known Issues
(Issue 47419) Attempting to create an application shortcut from the File menu crashes Chrome on Windows

....Chrome has now a hell of a lot of work to do... IE9 is fast approaching and seems like microsoft is using the public as a number one option to feedback to make a widely approved browser and i must say they are doing a good job cause so far its almost as fast as chrome 6 LOL ???

biffen said...

I havent been able to use Chrome since the updates a couple o days ago since it crashed within a couple seconds of launch. This release fixed that. Thanks.

F6 is broken. Doesn't highlight the URL anymore. Needs to hit Ctrl-A first before you can type over.

Where my Chrome Apps go?

It's not showing anymore after this update! I'm running with --enable-apps and nothing...

Lumo said...

In this version, Iframes have a wrong, universally white background color!

That's an ugly cosmetic bug that makes all my amazon.com iframes in blogger.com as well as the Facebook like buttons look very ugly with my darker backgrounds.

See Issue 47507.

- Please bring phantom tabs back
- Please make a shortcut to show/hide the bookmark bar (if not Ctrl+B, then *something*)
- Please change the animation to show the pinned tabs have been updated; that endless animation is just so annoying (maybe animate just a couple of times?)
- Application shortcuts are buggy all the way: it crashes Chrome if you create them (as stated in the post) but also even if you *open* them.

Work around for missing app icons in NTP.... it sucks, but here it is:

Go to Extensions, show extension ids, get the app id, go to chrome-extension:///

Where baseurl is the page specified in the manifest.json to load for the app. For web-based apps it may be blank.

If it works, bookmark the page temporarily until the app icons come back.

PS: I miss phantom tabs too.

I am also seeing the same issue that CMM mentioned regarding already existing Application shortcuts crashing the browser.
@Jaimy
The Known Issue reported in the release notes mentioned crashing on the act of creating a new application shortcut. It did not say that already existing application shortcuts would fail.

Dan Mikita said...

I'm not sure when it was added, but I like the subtle animation on unselected tabs. When you mouse over them the small dot turns into an 'X'. Very subtle, but polished. Two thumbs up!

Dan Mikita said...

And ventura just so you know, the current shortcut for showing/hiding the bookmark bar is ctrl-shift-B and to bookmark your current page it is ctrl-D. Hope this helps.

Err make that chrome-extension://[appid]/[baseurl]

I did not notice the close glyph on the inactive tabs, nice!

Nolan said...

I'm not having any problems with this release that aren't already documented as known issues.

However, I would like for the left side of the stop button to be properly rounded out at the corners. It looks ridiculous as it is now.

Hunter said...

Fix the(some) current bugs before doing more development?

I know its the dev channel, but its getting out of hand.

btw, has the extremely small, ugly x on tabs always been there? I like the normal size x's. Those small ones must be hard for people with bad vision to see. I know it shows up normal size, but thats if you scroll over it.

My extensions on home and work computers (after enabling sync), are still out of sync. Also autofill sync is new, but not working.
also in the "Customize sync" menu, it is hardly visible. Can this "Customize sync" menu be enlarged ?

The unified menu looks great but a few changes are needed to make it perfect:

1. The zoom and edit options should be removed and the extensions option put back into the main menu.

OR

2. The zoom and edit options can stay, but add another sub-menu for Save Page As, Find, Print, Tools, and add the extensions option before the Bookmark manager option.

These are the only improvements needed (as these are the only issues people have with unified menu as indicated in comments in various articles/blogs/forums to unclutter and make the unified menu perfect.

Please implement or modify and implement one of these ideas.
Thanks!

I miss closed pinned tabs. I like the animation for updates to content. I don't mind continuous animation, but if you remove it, maybe a color shift would be sufficient to indicate new content.

Howdy: With this release I'm experiencing a major reproducible bug when visiting the following site:
http://maggiesfarm.anotherdotcom.com/

The site (a group commentary blog if'n you must know) renders fine in IE, and rendered fine in previous dev versions of Chrome. But now, several seconds after the site begins to render in a Chrome tab it will unfailingly fail... consistently crash ... and take all the other open tabs down with it.

The program itself does not crash and all the other pages can be reloaded. But each time this particular page is opened or reloaded, the result is the same - frowny sick faces in each tabbed window.

Thanks for listening.

Working very smooth here on Mac 10.6, nice work. Only feature I keep wishing for is an option to have the download bar close automatically after x seconds. It's annoying to have to mouse over to the small X to close it. Even a keyboard shortcut would be welcome.

upon opening of both shortcuts: chrome crashes.

i think this might be a known issue or not.
