I agree with naturefreak. The aero peak with multiple instances does not look clean. And you lose the ability to minimize Chrome.

Fantastic, that was fast. As reported, the shaded line is still there. An interesting bug, for sure.

Shaded line is there, I can confirm.
Can anyone confirm that sometimes dragging around on http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2010/mar/17/cliff-stearns/stearns-says-house-democrats-trample-procedures-he/ causes the tab to crash? It's sporadic, but spending 30 secs or so trying to drag elements around or just generally screwing with the mouse makes the tab set crash.

When I preview the Desktop with the right-bottom button on Windows7 superbar, and then click to minimize all windows (also Win+D), the Chrome tabs appear as MDI child windows.

Hi, I' using ver. 4.0249.98 as earlier versions crash on various sites as: Bing, Mediafire, Hotmail, etc. I don't know the reason, maybe because of installed extensions or themes; however ver. 4.0249.98 also crashes on loading mediafire and especially when several tabs does open.
what is the reason?
Thx!

Great... but how about now fixing the bug in the Linux where visiting just about every page results in the 'aw snap' error message that can only be fixed by purging the deb, deleting the Chrome profile, and reinstalling -- only to have the error reappear after you exit and restart the browser. This bug has been filed by several people, and has been present for a long time in all channels; making Chrome virtually unusable for some.

The aero peek feature on windows 7 is nice for when you only have a few tabs open (< 6), but for avid tab users (I often have 20+), it's horrible to have to look through all the tab names to find the one you want. With the old system, you could easily switch back to the tab you were using last, and being able to do this still would be fantastic. Until then, back to firefox :)

i just switched back to the beta channel (on mac) because i was tired of the crashes, and i noticed that the beta (5.0.307.11) seems much faster than the dev channel. is the slowness of the dev channel version to be expected (e.g. debug build vs release)?

First of All, Congratulations Chrome Team
Ok... Now, please implement smooth scrolling natively in Google Chrome, I think it should not be so hard ... I don't like to have many extensions installed, even more, to meet simple things like this.
About the taskbar support in Windows 7, there are still some problems ...
When you close a tab by thumbnails, all other thumbnails disappear, then you must click on Chrome icon again to display the thumbnails again, to then close another tab.
And it remains to implement the progress of the download on taskbar Chrome icon, as in IE.
Bye

@Thiago: the dowload progress on the taskbar is already on the trunk and will land to dev soon.
another really exiting thing: pinned tab will be persistent between session, so you can choose a gruop of pinned tab to be load every time you open your browser... already on the trunk, soon on the dev.
great Google!

looks like some changes to the forms interfere with the CTRL + RIGHT and CTRL + LEFT shortcuts:
normally the cursor jumps from one word to another (adding shift makes it possible to select whole words). Now instead of this behavior chrome just jumps between tabs. Very annoying..

XDRAGON360 said...
Chrome should have incognito TABS and windows so that users don't have to switch between windows.

Please revert the Aero Peek functionality in Win7 back to how it was. I appreciate the team working to full take advantage of Aero, but an option to disable the new behaviour would be welcome :) Also it'd be nice if the Chrome could use the Aero progress bar functionality to display progress of downloads on the taskbar. I'm sure it's already in the pipeline, but just thought I'd mention.

noob here....running W7/64. Is there a way to get flash (or Java...I have no idea)...working with this (or future versions?). Not getting any pictures on the front page of NYT or Huffington. Cleared cache....works fine in IE. Help?
4:33 PM, March 24, 2010
Neo said...
@Joegrind: Is your JRE x64 or x86? IE has both x64 and x86 on W7/64, whereas chrome would require x86 JRE.

@Neo...thanks for the quick response. Not sure which version I have....the websites came up under both 32 and 64 versions of IE. I just downloaded Java Version 6 Update 18...which according to the website is recommended for Chrome. I'm going to install and reboot and see if anything changes.
Back in 5.
4:48 PM, March 24, 2010
Neo said...
@Joegrind: If IE x86 is displaying Java content, then Chrome should also. Otherwise, something else is wrong!

@Neo: yeah...both IE show Java. Nothing on Chrome after the re-install of Java 6/18 and cache clear/ reboot.
Any suggestions?
