The Google Chrome Beta channel for Mac and Linux has been updated to 5.0.307.11 to fix a few more issues:
  • [Linux] Fixed the dependency problem that caused extra packages to get pulled in for installing Google Chrome. (Issue 35639)
  • [Mac, Linux] Fixed an issue where an error resolving a proxy server would not try a direct connection. (Issue 32316)
  • [Mac, Linux] Fixed an extensions bug that could crash the entire browser. (Issue 34778)
  • [Mac, Linux] Fixed an issue in the cross-site scripting auditor that could prevent Google translate from working on sites. (Issue 33115)

What are you talking about? Why should there be a Windows beta release already - Chrome 5 is going to be released in May or later and there's no point to have a beta release just yet.

I noticed my Chrome (on WinXP) has been updated recently. I thought I was running the beta but it says I'm running 4.1.249.1017 unknown (39874). I can't find details for 4.1.249.1017 in the Release Notes blog.

Sweet, I've been hanging out for this update, no way I was installing the additional ~32 programs the last update wanted.

Cheers.

@d2kx
What am I talking about?
These are Beta updates for Mac and Linux. They are on Version 5 for a month already. And there hasn't been any Beta update for Windows for well over a month. Though Stable Channel got updated and is on par with the Beta channel-weird.
Am I missing something? And are you talking about the Stable channel getting updated to 5 in May?

@ jacpra
Go to About Google Chrome, let it check for updates, and click on update now when asked.

Noticed last night (27 Feb) that several of my bookmarked websites will load, then change to a blank screen. This just started happening. Could this related to this update? OS is Linux Ubuntu 9.10.

Never mind. Resolved itself.

IMPORTANT NOTE: chrome beta was updated to 4.1 but this blog did not report that upgrade. you should see some new features like the native translator.

Regards.

Any plan and date to support Gears on Chrome Linux? This is really a must to make it our favorite and productive browser on Linux! Thanks for the work so far!

The Chrome of this version (5.0.307.11) has some issues with "feedly" and "Gmail checker plus" extensions in Ubuntu x86_64.
I just couldn't login by using feedly extension with Chrome in Ubuntu.

and my font type setup like "LiHei Pro" just not works at plurk.com ot google news in Chinese.
