I have seriuos problem with this version... every time I open chrome it crashes immediatly. the only way to use it is in incognito mode. I'm on vista 64 bit. Don't know what to do :(

I had to disable all the extensions from chrome:extensions to make chrome work fine again. is that a problem of chrome or the rules for extensions changed?
Chrome simply crashes now when I open the new tab page. I did disable everything else, such as extensions, userscripts... no luck.

I sure hope there is a new build fast. I disabled all extra switches and the problem still exists, probably due to extensions. I can't keep Chrome open for more than a second or two.

Adding --disable-extensions to the command line makes this build usable (I am on XP).
Please fix issue 22320 that came up with this release today, it's preventing us to use bookmark sync by crashing chrome.
I'm in the same boat as Fabio the browser won't even open it immediately crashes. I uninstalled and downloaded a fresh dev same result.
I;m going to delete all my data and try a completely fresh install since the etension may be the problem otherwide drop back to beta.
My chrome has gone and has not startup again.
I'm crashing on startup with --enable-sync as well. I've starred all three related issues that I could find: 22300, 22309, and 22329.

Not sure why you're talking about "innovations" when you're subscribed to the dev channel. The beta channel is for the general public to help test. The dev channel is for when developers (or highly adventurous people) want to help test. Expect lots of things to go wrong in the dev channel. If you can't hang with that, subscribe to the beta channel instead... or perhaps the regular production channel.
Why improve the New Tab page load performance and the slow it up by adding “handy hints” and extraneous invitations to “make this my home page”?
I agree. Perhaps there could be a small "options" link on the new tab page, allowing us to remove certain aspects? For instance, maybe I want the message letting me know that the bookmarks have failed to sync but don't need to be bothered to know each time they have successfully synced. Maybe I also want the thumbnails of frequently visited sites but don't need to see the "hints".
seems that there is not much new exciting feature or new V8 engine improvement etc for windows lately...
btw, one interesting finding for drop down menu.
after i select a value from drop down menu, the menu won't close until i need to click somewhere else on the page......
is this a bug or "new feature" ??

1) The dropdown box won't close if you have select a value, until click somewhere.
2) The dropdown box won't open if dropping the list for 2nd time(click the arrow button on left to show the list, and click again to close the list, then click again and expect it will not drop down anymore).

See Google, this is why you don't release updates on Fridays. We get stuck with issues like this over the weekend that could have been otherwise fixed by the next day with a small update. There are just too many usability bugs in this one.
I don't understand Google anymore. They used to be such a great company, nowadays they don't do almost anything right. The new Docs interface is weeks late, this Chrome Dev release is totaly unusable, inovation has stopped in almost all products and they are posting mystery doodles instead of dealing with their products, some of wich need huge bugfixing and feature-adding.
@skyhard, Google is a great company and they still do great things. They are always inovating the internet. Just be pacient.

Using the --disable-extensions switch made Chrome stable for me again on Vista SP2.
This release crashes constantly and I don't even use --enable-sync.
I'm on a mac, and this new update installs some huge, ugly white bar on the bottom of the window. I see no way to remove it, and it essentially serves no purpose. Anyone know anything about this?
Gears seems to not work now also. Offline for gmail and calendar fail. Using enable/disable/enable doesn't fix. Deleting approval for gears and then re-enabling doesn't work. Seems like all sync features (bookmark, offline, etc.) have been knocked out by this release.
The sense of entitlement from some people who signed up for a Development channel is really astounding.

You're running a DEVELOPMENT branch! You CHOSE to run it! If you want to run stable software, use the STABLE branch! It's on version 3 and *gasp* stable! Even the Beta branch gets updated once a month or so!
If you can't handle a build that occasionally breaks, you've got no business running development software, much less whining about it like a spoiled child.
Come on guys... stop complaining about the crashes, you are using the dev channel version... it is supposed to happen some times.
If you dont like crashed, go back to beta or stable channels and stop crying like little girls.
Its just a buggy release on the best browser on earth.

I'm not sure why you lumped me in with all of the "whiners". I only made one comment saying that I hope it is fixed soon (I only say this because I enjoy the bookmark sync feature)... that's it. I didn't "whine" and, in fact, when someone else "whined" I told them that, perhaps, they'd be better off on the beta or stable channel. So, the fact that you decided to lump me in with the whining crowd makes it look as though you aren't actually reading messages too carefully.
I agree with you aaron, but what good is a dev release if 50% of the features don't work and you can't even test it. I have been on the dev channel since day one and never complained, but this build is just useless. Anyway, I know the team is doing the best they can so I don't blame them. And I hope the sync option will find its way into the beta branch soon, so I can finaly switch to the beta branch. I think that my dev days are over.

I really miss having "Clear browsing data" on the Tools menu. Even though it may be redundant, it's still very convenient! I don't know if anyone also wants "Import bookmarks & settings" on the Tools menu, but this may be advisable based on demand. Nevertheless, I am sure that many want "Clear browsing data" back on the Tools menu. Please bring it back!

there is also the ability to pin tabs, which means only the favicon is displayed! now i can save the screen real estate taken up by gmail and gcal!

Error 7 should now be fixed. We had a problem with the download server configuration, but it's fixed now.

Download files with this version 4.0.211.4 (also with 4.0.211.2) always terminate prematurely, usually around ~24/5MB.

Update works now but there is many problem's with stablity. Chrome hangs and restarting.
I turn on Chrome after error and i see in history 17 tab closed. I click on it and Chrome hangs again. Then I can't back to my tabs.

To be a temporary solution, I think you guy may start Chrome with "--incognito" to get it into incognito mode.

4.0.211.4 is still *very* unstable for me.
Having trouble continuing developing the extension because it is so bad.

Found a bug with the select element - it can be clicked only once (it opens the options), after closing and trying to reopen nothing happens.
The same happens if I focus it using keyboard and then "refocus" it.

This version crash when I open it from my configuration (with scripts, extensions and sync).
When I make a clean instalation chrome goes ok, but when I install an extension (the sample extensions, in fact, gmail notifier and that) crashes over and over again. So, I can't use extensions for now =(

I have xmarks alpha and google sync enabled for sync and adsweep as a extension. I'm only able start chrome when I --disable-extensions.

Major problems with dropdowns. They are just not usable. Drop downs won't open for a second time on a given page.

Error with comboboxes in Properties
Problem with copying. When I select any text and press Ctrl + C or right click and select copy, I get the grey window with the below message.
"Aw, Snap! Something went wrong while displaying this webpage. To continue, press Reload or go to another page."
Seems like copy function is creating a problem.
This version is buggy, but what disappoints me is that, its slow. :(

Lastest build is working perfectly for me. Then again, I turned off bookmark sync a few builds back when it started duplicating bookmarks after syncing. I read an online manga and I have a bookmark I change every time I get to the end of a chapter. The syncing feature kept syncing the updated bookmark and then adding the original to the bottom of the menu. Very annoying so I disabled it.
Plus, at some point they fixed the really annoying bug that was preventing me from dragging tabs between browser windows. Nice
4.0.211.4 crashes twice upon opening but is fairly stable after that. I have not disabled extensions. The only 2 that I have active at the moment are Gmail checker & Aniweather.
I too have trouble with the drop down menus; won't hide after select and sometimes won't drop down at all.

So far this build is "ok" but for sure there are issues when installing certain extensions causing Chrome to crash in a loop. So far I had to purge my cache and redo my profile to get everything up and isolate which extensions are breaking Chrome. Hopefully a new build will be out before the end of the week.

This is clearly one of the less stable versions for the Mac at least. After blocking several tabs even if working in another application, I decided to go back to Firefox for the moment.
So I closed down Chrome but now I see that a Google Chrome Helper process is still active in the background and that it consumes 95% of CPU resources.
No good.

Your options are to either include the switch --disable-extensions to turn off extensions when running chrome.exe... OR, reinstall Chrome and switch to the BETA or STABLE channel.
The DEV channel is for developers who want to help test and debug Chrome, not those who want to use it on a daily basis and expect it to be stable and crash-free.
Having GMail and Google Reader extensions installed (first is from the Example Extensions page on the Chrome dev site, the other is a third-party one based on the first) causes Chrome to crash on startup after a few seconds as it populates the extensions toolstrip.
Workaround is to quickly navigate to another page so the new tab page isn't visible while the extensions load. Once they load you can use the new tab page without crashing.
Set your home page to somewhere else for a better workaround.
I copied the bookmarks, webdata and cookies from chrome, uninstalled it installed the latest Chromium build copied bookmarks, webdata and cookies into Chromium, reinstalled my extensions and I'm back in business.
YouTube videos takes a long time to load since i got this new version 4.0.211.4
Before YouTube Videos loaded smoothly now it loads like 5 secs then takes like a minute to load another 5 secs.
I know it's Chrome issue since it doesn't happens on Mozilla Firefox

Now Chrome works stable, bookmarks are syncing and don't crash the browser.
when window is in normal state the extension bar looks odd and when it's maximized it's ok with no problem.
The 4.0.211.7 better, but not perfect: problem with radiobuttons (can't choose only one) in propetries of Chrome.

Yesterday I had version 4.0.211.4 and found a cool feature: Dragging a tab all the way to the left would shrink so that the title of the tab went away. I thought this was a very cool feature for my always-open windows. Today it's been updated to 4.0.211.7 and this feature is gone :-( Does anyone know what happened?

I just keep getting constant crashes, I cannot last more than 2 minutes. I have been using Chrome now or many months and this is the only version that is doing it. "Whoa Google Chrome has crashed". Very frustrating and unusable. I have gone back to Firefox until it gets fixed.
