In previous version: Google Chrome now supports the tag.

In newest version: Google Chrome now supports the (big white space).

Video tag (from source code).

All fonts are now MUCH smaller. (in context popup menu, address bar, on tab captions, in bookmark bar, in setting dialog)

WOW

font is too small!!

Epsilon.Sigma said...

I cannot believe you released such a half-baked thing! Didn't you see the fonts are too small?

Fabio_Rulez said...

new tab is broken...pressing the home button from a site (when home is set on new tab) gives a lot of problem: sometimes it shows 3 empty thumbnais, sometimes never loads the page... this dev seems very buggy...

Thomas Stolz said...

Agree. Can't read anything in the menus.. Font to small :-/

Ricardo A. said...

As previously stated it's hard to beleive that such a half baked product was release to the public.
Shame on Google/

Yahoo mail interface doesn't seem to work, it's giving me a yahoo client side error... was working before this last update.

Having a problem loading Yahoo! Mail in 3.0.182.2. Here is the message:

Ooops. Yahoo! Mail can't load
Loading Yahoo! Mail failed due to a client side error

David said...

What's up with people bagging on Google for releasing something buggy to the DEV CHANNEL? Isn't that what this was meant for?

Marcelo said...

This is a Dev Version, so PATIENCE!

Karthik said...

Video tag doesn't seem to work...

Mehdi said...

Agreed David, Marcelo and Karthik. What's with with you people? This is a 'DEV' version.
We went to '3' if anyone noticed!

Blewby said...

Didn't notice a font issue.

The auto spell correct didn't seem to work. I purposely spelled teh and it stayed that way with the red underline.

Yahoo mail will not open for me either.

Mehdi said...

Right-click the 'teh' and there is this add to dictionary option and other close-matches. Try. :D

David Knowles said...

I was wondering whether the version is a mistake. Is not the next version suppose to be 2.1

Mehdi said...

@ Above.
That's what I heard too.
But I guess, as the stable moved to version 2 and as we will soon have add-ons we are moving to 3? Just a guess.

Ernesto MT. said...

I dont seeeeeeeeee

Ricardo A. said...

It's not a matter of ripping Google. The Dev channel, although a clearly less stable version, should not be a sandbox. Version control is a basic programming method and it seems that Google lost it's hands this time

Lumo said...

Thanks for jumping to 3.0, at least some fun. I confirm the supertiny fonts in all menus, dialogs, tabs (web pages' size is OK) in my Czech version.

Could you please release a version with the original font size abruptly? Thanks, Lubos

Michael said...

Ha, I'm guessing that when the post was written they tried saying it supports the <video> tag?

&lt;video&gt;

As for all those 'public' people getting into the dev releases... Maybe anyone trying to get into the Dev channel should have to answer a simple development question!

alexandrojv said...

Wow seriously it is a Developer version, which is suppose to be buggy!

Now I am running Win Xp sp3, and font looks just like before, no change at all, the whole auto spell correction does not work at all teh is not changed, and yeah New Yahoo mail does not work.

The reason that Chrome is version 3, and not 2.1, is because it will include extencions, and themes soon, so it is a total new thing, amazing changes will come soon; also because Stable version is 2.0

@Blewby you have the best post I saw here!

Font on the menus and toolbar is too small.

Alex von Fersen said...

Quick tmp fix for the small font problem is to change "Google Chrome Language" in options to "English (United States)" and restart the browser or start Chrome with the "--lang=en-US" flag.

Béla said...

Thanks, that works!

Lumo said...

Dear Alex, a great hint! I've added the " --lang=en-US" argument without quotes to the QuickLaunch icon that I usually use to run Chrome. It's English but the font size is fine!

Vincent McNabb said...

Fun with the auto spell correcter... It's now pretty hard to type fcuk for French Connection UK. Also, it would probably be good if acronyms were ignored. E.g. IMB gets changed to IBM, WTO gets changed to TWO etc.

Operator said...

Will we see support for RSS soon?

Bojan said...

Font is normal here... everything works fine ...

I thought we would see some beig new fetures for version 3... I didn't notice anything huge.

Alex said...

Recent chromium builds have been having this small font problem for a long time and I don't think the version jump is a mistake, as the chromium builds also moved to v3

Verde de Raiva said...

oh god too small font!

Ben said...

3.0 and STILL not full support for greasemonkey scripts..... I dont understand why its so hard when other browsers do it just fine....(dont understand why it was added half ass the way that it was in 2.0 to begin with).... please update this.... I still use chrome at home but I cant use it at work until it has full greasemonkey scripts support and not just SOME of the variables.

Ragnis said...

If you knew about the small font, then why did you released that version?

Sonu Singh said...

Chrome 3 no longer gets 100/100 on the acid3 test.
Only 94/100.

Grumbledook said...

Can no longer just start typing in the address bar after loading now, worked fine before.

Has a flashing cursor in there just doesn't seem to take focus.

digitaltoast said...

Ricardo A: You're being a moron and boring the rest of us: Read the description of the dev channel:

http://dev.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel

The Dev channel is where ideas get tested (and sometimes fail). The Dev channel can be very unstable at times, and new features usually require some manual configuration to be enabled. If you don't like testing stuff, stick with the stable or beta channels.

djenkins said...

I'm also getting "Yahoo! Mail can't load"

theoglobal said...

Clarification:
In 3.0.182.2
Yahoo mail CLASSIC can load.
Yahoo All-New-Mail cannot load.
Both versions of Yahoo work fine on FF 3.0.10

theoglobal said...

Yahoo All-New-Mail cannot load
fyi
in 3.0.182.2
I deleted all cache and deleted all cookies, ensured all apps closed and system memory at minimum, cleaned system, several reboots.
Still no change.
Yahoo All-New-Mail cannot load

Martin said...

Yes, I am seeing the small font for all menus, buttons etc in the latest version (3.0.182.2 Beta). But, I do not have a non-English version! My language is English (UK). Web pages are unaffected though - I hope this is fixed soon!

Kristian said...

Just because it's worth repeating to anyone who doesn't understand this concept:

Developer preview channel. The Dev channel is where ideas get tested (and sometimes fail). The Dev channel can be very unstable at times, and new features usually require some manual configuration to be enabled. Still, simply using Dev channel releases is an easy (practically zero-effort) way for anyone to help improve Google Chrome.

so what container and codec does it support anyway?
I can't find any video format that does work.

Great release! My online bill payment system now works. Prior to this release, I had to use IE or FF.

Bram said...

Please Google, ship the next dev version without the font issue asap!

Johnny Bravo said...

Arghh! My eyes hurt! Fix the font issue asap!

Alex von Fersen said...

Read the thread. There's a temporary fix for the font issue if you can't wait until the next update.

Lumo said...

A quick temporary fix for the small font problem is to change "Google Chrome Language" in options to "English (United States)" and restart the browser or start Chrome with the "--lang=en-US" flag.

Another issue with viewing .patch files in browser. I see media player not a text.

Jon@Chromium.org said...

3.0.182.3 is now going out to the DEV channel. It fixes the small fonts issue. Sorry for the bump in the road.

The media player issue is being worked on but probably won't be released to the dev channel until 3.0.183.x next week.

Yahoo mail no longer works! (worked great in 2.0)

alexandrojv said...

@DouglasS you can select the option to save tabs by goint to the Wrench Icon > and select to save tabs, instead of opening the homepage, or the selected pages you want.

@Andrey this bug will be fixed on the next Developer Update which will be either this week or next week, it does not work on Version 3.0.182.2 (Official Build 16964) but will work on the next update, version 3.0.183.0 (Developer Build 17072) if you want to follow up on this Issue, you can do so by starring this issue: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=12790

I realize Autoscroll was requested by many people but I really dislike it, particularly if the mouse wheel button is too sensitive. An option to disable it, even a hidden one, would be great.

Fernando Cassia said...

I'm sick and tired of Google's attitude of "the end user is stupid". What do I mean by it? HIDING THE INSTALLERS.

If there's a dev build 3.0.183.0 why can't I just DOWNLOAD CHROME_installer_dev_3_0_183_0.exe" and get the full thing?.

Why have me play the "change 'channel'" game?. Why?

What does Google have against plain old FTP SITES to host files? Why HIDE releases in http:// servers with virtual listing DISABLED?

FC

alexandrojv said...

@Fernando Cassia: You can download the Developer Build by just simply going to: http://www.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel and selecting either the developer channel, or the Beta Channel installer. This way you do not need to change the channels manually.

The channel changer, is just for those that already have Chrome installed, and want to change their channel.

alexandrojv said...

@Keith: you can suggest that feature on http://www.crbug.com

alexandrojv said...

@Theodore: Google Chrome actually does pass the Acid 3 test with 100/100 but installing some extensions might make it be a little off 100

alexandrojv said...

@roei: You might want to install the normal channel chrome to not receive any crashes, and if you still do, then submit what happened to www.crbug.com
