I cannot believe you released such a half-baked thing! Didn't you see the fonts are too small?

new tab is broken...pressing the home button from a site (when home is set on new tab) gives a lot of problem: sometimes it shows 3 empty thumbnais, sometimes never loads the page... this dev seems very buggy...

What's up with people bagging on Google for releasing something buggy to the DEV CHANNEL? Isn't that what this was meant for?

Didn't notice a font issue.
The auto spell correct didn't seem to work. I purposely spelled teh and it stayed that way with the red underline.
Yahoo mail will not open for me either.

Mehdi said...
Right-click the 'teh' and there is this add to dictionary option and other close-matches. Try. :D

I was wondering whether the version is a mistake. Is not the next version suppose to be 2.1

@ Above.
That's what I heard too.
But I guess, as the stable moved to version 2 and as we will soon have add-ons we are moving to 3? Just a guess.

It's not a matter of ripping Google. The Dev channel, although a clearly less stable version, should not be a sandbox. Version control is a basic programming method and it seems that Google lost it's hands this time

Thanks for jumping to 3.0, at least some fun. I confirm the supertiny fonts in all menus, dialogs, tabs (web pages' size is OK) in my Czech version.
Could you please release a version with the original font size abruptly? Thanks, Lubos

Ha, I'm guessing that when the post was written they tried saying it supports the <video> tag?

As for all those 'public' people getting into the dev releases... Maybe anyone trying to get into the Dev channel should have to answer a simple development question!

Wow seriously it is a Developer version, which is suppose to be buggy!
Now I am running Win Xp sp3, and font looks just like before, no change at all, the whole auto spell correction does not work at all teh is not changed, and yeah New Yahoo mail does not work.
The reason that Chrome is version 3, and not 2.1, is because it will include extencions, and themes soon, so it is a total new thing, amazing changes will come soon; also because Stable version is 2.0
@Blewby you have the best post I saw here!

Quick tmp fix for the small font problem is to change "Google Chrome Language" in options to "English (United States)" and restart the browser or start Chrome with the "--lang=en-US" flag.

Thanks, that works!

Dear Alex, a great hint! I've added the " --lang=en-US" argument without quotes to the QuickLaunch icon that I usually use to run Chrome. It's English but the font size is fine!

Fun with the auto spell correcter... It's now pretty hard to type fcuk for French Connection UK. Also, it would probably be good if acronyms were ignored. E.g. IMB gets changed to IBM, WTO gets changed to TWO etc.

3.0 and STILL not full support for greasemonkey scripts..... I dont understand why its so hard when other browsers do it just fine....(dont understand why it was added half ass the way that it was in 2.0 to begin with).... please update this.... I still use chrome at home but I cant use it at work until it has full greasemonkey scripts support and not just SOME of the variables.

Ricardo A: You're being a moron and boring the rest of us: Read the description of the dev channel:
http://dev.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel
The Dev channel is where ideas get tested (and sometimes fail). The Dev channel can be very unstable at times, and new features usually require some manual configuration to be enabled. If you don't like testing stuff, stick with the stable or beta channels.

Just because it's worth repeating to anyone who doesn't understand this concept:
Developer preview channel. The Dev channel is where ideas get tested (and sometimes fail). The Dev channel can be very unstable at times, and new features usually require some manual configuration to be enabled. Still, simply using Dev channel releases is an easy (practically zero-effort) way for anyone to help improve Google Chrome.

A quick temporary fix for the small font problem is to change "Google Chrome Language" in options to "English (United States)" and restart the browser or start Chrome with the "--lang=en-US" flag.

3.0.182.3 is now going out to the DEV channel. It fixes the small fonts issue. Sorry for the bump in the road.
The media player issue is being worked on but probably won't be released to the dev channel until 3.0.183.x next week.

I'm sick and tired of Google's attitude of "the end user is stupid". What do I mean by it? HIDING THE INSTALLERS.
If there's a dev build 3.0.183.0 why can't I just DOWNLOAD CHROME_installer_dev_3_0_183_0.exe" and get the full thing?.
Why have me play the "change 'channel'" game?. Why?
What does Google have against plain old FTP SITES to host files? Why HIDE releases in http:// servers with virtual listing DISABLED?

@Fernando Cassia: You can download the Developer Build by just simply going to: http://www.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel and selecting either the developer channel, or the Beta Channel installer. This way you do not need to change the channels manually.
The channel changer, is just for those that already have Chrome installed, and want to change their channel.

@Theodore: Google Chrome actually does pass the Acid 3 test with 100/100 but installing some extensions might make it be a little off 100

@roei: You might want to install the normal channel chrome to not receive any crashes, and if you still do, then submit what happened to www.crbug.com
