Please add the feature to allow switching between tabs while in full screen mode.

Thanks for fixing the Calendar!

"Undo Tab Close" is welcome!

The "Edit Thumbnails" option is great. You'll get a lot of kudos for that one.

One thing left for my browser to be complete -- Sync the bookmarks with my online Google bookmarks. (wow. your spellchecker doesn't know the word 'online'... eep!)

Keep up the good work!

@Wael Kdouh,

You can switch tabs in full screen mode using keyboard commands (i.e. ctrl+tab).

Awesome, I believe this is the best dev release to date, I didn't find any new glitches since 173.

By the way, I loved the way you're handling the deletion of the new tab page thumbnails. I guess only enabling the extensions and Chrome will be ready to take over IE and FF :)

@Wael Kdouh this is still unfixed, read the post at "Known Issues", it's the first.

Wael Kdouh said...

Anthony, I don't think it is convenient when you have a large number of tabs open. Also there are situations when you need to enter a new address within the current tab.

About fullscreen controls, I believe that as most of the new features from Chrome (like autofill and the recent remove pages from new tab page), this are an early approach, so it's extremelly simple. Certainly they will implement something like this as IE and FF have it.

One thing I really miss is a history of my search queries for each of my search providers, when I use "m bla", Chrome shouldn't look for URLs with bla, but on the search history for the search engine 'm'.

Anyone knows if there is an open issue for this?

+1 this should have been there since the beginning.

Regarding the remove thumbnail feature, I would like to see that they can be removed in one step by simply clicking a small X that pops up at the corner of the thumbnail upon mouseover. Also, please add a feature to disable the "recent bookmarks" pane. Otherwise, the improvements are moving in the right direction.

Delete Thumbnail Is Feature Is Great
My Suggestion Is To Allow User To Reorder Thumbnails.

If you want to reorder, you want the Speed dial from opera, not a "Most Recent". That's certainly a feature we would like in the future (the ability to switch from these two).

I wish there was a way to switch the user-agent string without having to break out a hex editor. A submenu in the Developer menu seems like a perfect place to me.

Here is a feature that would definitely lead to a more organized browsing experience:

Include an option within the context menu of every tab called "Flip Tab", which triggers an animation of a tab being flipped(imagine having notes on the back of the current tab) which will display thumbnails to all pages initiated from within the page currently loaded within the current tab.

This could even be used to resurrect "Google Notes" by providing the capability to add notes associated with the current loaded page, which could automatically be saved as a document under "Google Documents" account.

Wael Kdouh said...

I would also like to add an additional advantage of the feature I just mentioned above. Here is what happens under current google chrome's structure for the following scenario:
1) Visit a page
2) Go a couple of levels deep\
3) Now close the tab
4) Try opening a new tab. You will notice that the history of recently closed tabs does not show the original page.

Thus by using my suggested feature, google would simply show the link to the original page, which itself has thumbnails to all the visited pages from there.

B.D., you can set the user agent string using the command line switch --user-agent=....

I still hate that the "minimize, maximice, close" - buttons dont work in vista when dbi windows dpi is rised...

all other programs work.

blaah.

Meok said...

I found a BUG in the thumbnail removal feature. It only works if you have more than one row of thumbnails on your Most Visited section. I recently started using a new Windows profile and so my New Tab Page only had three thumbnails on it. When I tried to delete one of the three sites, it deleted them all. Fortunately, you can recover what was removed.

Which brings me to me main annoyance with Chrome. You can't do a universal installation of Chrome across all the user profiles on a machine. When I install Chrome in my user profile, the other users on the system should at least see an icon on their desktops inviting them to SETUP their own Chrome, without having to download the files all over again.

Thank you so much... I'm looking forward to these in the stable version. :]

"Undo Tab Close"? That's funny, "Undo closed tab" makes sense to me. :]

Anyway, thank you Google Chrome team!!

I am still not able to run Google Chrome will having Symantec Antivirus installed. Please fix this issue asap, as I want to experience Google Chrome so much, but cannot compromise on antivirus program.

Having trouble in the last few days. Clicking a tab closes the tab, even if it's the active tab. Also, bookmarks are staying up even though they used to hide. Clicking a bookmark opens a new tab, but in the background. Clicking that tab closes it, as previously mentioned.

Weird.

clive said...

To Ashwin: That's a joke right?! Go and get yourself a proper anti-virus that does not interfere with running applications (AVG's a good free one). Norton AV is an absolutely awful piece of software, it's bloated and sticks its nose into system areas it has no right to be in. That's most likely why you can't run Chrome with Norton, I'd be surprised if it had anything at all to do with Chrome iteslf.

webmaster said...

@clive: Symantec AV != Norton AV. Symantec AV is widely used in corporate environments.

Awesome - editing thumbnails works perfectly!

Is there an option to disable the ctrl+shift alignment function? I use ctrl+shift+arrows to highlight text quite often, and this new feature is actually very obnoxious.

Steve said...

Following on from Deleting thumbnails.

If you want truly editable thumbnails then either
Safari Dial *www.safaridial.com
or
Speedy Marks (www.speedymarks.com)
is what you're looking for ...

The one thing I really miss in chrome is being allowed to disable the picure resize so that I can get fullsize pictures by default

Wael Kdouh said...

You need to integrate a "bubble" window which would pop up once you hoover over a link within a page. This would be useful within pages like wikipeda or knol where there are a lot of links and would be frustrating to go back and forth as you would loose your position within the page once you come back. Also opening the link in a new tab is not always the best option as it requires leaving the page.

It can also be disabled since it can be annoying in some cases.

great work..
as soon i type something in the address bar, the link that gets selected is coming in a some ugly color...is it only with me or others are also facing it?

You can install Chrome for all users - just go to Google Pack and install it from there. Then use the channel changer to go to the Beta or Dev channel if you wish. Note: You will have to remove your user's version of Chrome first.

Hey guys, from new version i cant hear sound from youtube streams...

Vitor said...

Good updates. One of the few things I get really annoyed when using Chrome is that when you close it down and some downloads are still running, those downloads are cancelled. Either you should allow them to complete, by keeping the download page open or get a warning message. Any plans to change this?

Costa said...

Please, my suggestion is simple.

Add command "Select all.." Select all content of web page to copy later.

And Add "search in this page" a word

Thanks a lot.

Costa said...

More suggestions.

The menu options "clear browsing data", "Full screen", "Help" and page "about:memory", sould be in other languages too.

Debugger javascript should be simple like the Microsoft Visual Studio debugger.

In View source Code should organize code with adittional tabs, espaces, new lines to do more comprensible and clean code.

Costa said...

More and more...

Missing useful options:

Send page to another program like a email, web editor and others programs.

Red said...

The "Save As" dialog is weird - the "Save as type" box has "*...(file type)" instead of just "*.(file type)". With this it doesn't show the existing *.(file type) files in the folders.

Right scroll bar disappears when first opening Google Chrome with many tabs to restore. Work-around is to refresh display and the scroll bar comes back.

Scroll bar disappears on 'Gmail page' with many tabs to restore on first opening. Scroll bar displays on other tabbed pages - maybe unique to Gmail page? Can easily reproduce this problem. Refreshing the Gmail page will bring back scroll bar.

hey google team,

question regarding using google chrome on windows 7 x64 beta.

afaik, it is still impossible to use the stable version under this OS.. i was wondering if and when i could download a version of chrome that would work right ahead on my win7 beta.
i understand that using stand-alone installers of the later beta/dev builds could cause problems with auto-update?

thanks in advance!
amit

I also had scroll bar disappearing issues with Gmail (it disappears when you try to resize and also when my computer comes out of sleep and hibernate). Also, when Google Labs's Multiple Inboxes, sometimes still very slow to load the other inboxes (not the main Inbox) - maybe because I have offline enabled (?).

I will continue to say it. Google Chrome will be the best browser in the market by the end of the year.

Nice update. Still need a full-page zoom save ability. When I reopen a webpage, it's zoom level goes back to default. Needs easy ability to turn off referers. Still also waiting for simple ability to change chrome's color from blue. I know, use a third-party theme, but I don't trust 3rd party stuff. Would also like ability to place "find in page" icon button next to the wrench in top right of window.

REO said...

I've noticed when you re-open Google Chrome with the restore tabs last open option - that the new tabs are not reloaded with new current content, but still have the same old page info from the last close. It would be nice if the restore of last open tabs would also RELOAD the tabs with any new current content.

Google Chrome - ROCKS!!!

Ron

Wesley said...

@REO Of course the tab shouldn't be reloaded, that's the whole purpose of the undo feature!

Tamer said...

Just download the update (from the stable version) to enjoy Full screen and Tab-management features which is great but noticed a delay in startup compared to stable chrome, which was one of main reason to switch to chrome as my default browser.

Red said...

If you change the desktop background/color (or maybe theme?), Chrome crashes.

I would prefer two thing: no thumbnails and don't auto log me into igoogle.

I want a clean page with search bar.

I like to start with a clean slate, and I've been used to this for 9 years or so. This feature bloat is, in my mind, against the original appeal of Google. It makes me have use another browser.

Adrian said...

Sometimes Chrome goes into a state, where clicking on a Tab closes the page. When in this state the two menus do not respond to clicks either.

cbarret1 said...

There needs to be a simple way to disable referrers. That's it.

I LOVE the fact that its such a slim browser it pops right up on my old computer. If too many features are added it will ruin its best.
